Maytag Front Load Washer And Dryer - The Next Step In Energy Conservation

When my husband and I moved into our “new” house, we decided that we were going to splurge and buy ourselves new appliances. We wanted a whole new start after living in apartments for five years. One of the first things we purchased was a new washing machine - not just any washing machine, but a Maytag front loader.

One thing about apartment living, you get to know your washing machines. You have to be able to know what is the best Laundromat in the area and which washing machine will get you the most for your money (quarters, of course). Front loaders are better than top loaders, hands down. Front loading washers and dryers for the home are relatively new concepts. When I was growing up, you only saw them at the Laundromat. That was where you would take all the blankets, coats, rugs - things that needed a GOOD wash.

With energy efficiency now at an all time high, these washing machine / dryer combinations seemed to be the wisest choice. Now, a Maytag front load washer is energy efficient and also uses about 1/3 less water then its top loader counterparts. The dryer (MEDE500VW) even has a steam enhanced and sanitary cycle. These washer and dryer combinations also have the ability to give you more floor space. Moving into a small house with the washer and dryer in the kitchen, this was definitely a plus for us.

The entire combination is about as tall as the refrigerator and doesn’t make a sound. The warranty was also something that interested us when we purchased our Maytag front load washer and dryer. Maytag products are notoriously known for providing a warranty - and following through with their promise of service. Receiving a warranty, extra floor space, energy efficiency, and a good wash were not the only things that peaked our interest when looking at Maytag front loading washers and dryers - price was.

Now, wait a second, you say, “Doesn’t it cost more for a front loader than for a regular top loader?” Yes, it does. But that’s just the upfront cost. At the end of the year, - my husband and I worked it out - we will have spent less for water (we wash less loads and each cycle uses 1/3 less water), less for detergent (instead of two bottles a month for about $20, we spend about $8 for 1 box of High Efficiency powdered brand), and less for cold/allergy medicines / days off work (it is a known fact that front loading washing machines remove bacteria at normal temperature, unlike top loaders). All that and we even have a warranty if we need to use it.

All in all, the Maytag front load washer and dryer are definitely an investment. With the country going green, think of purchasing one as a contribution to conserving energy. And we definitely conserve our energy by never having to leave the house to wash all the things we couldn’t wash in our top loading washing machine.
